A LETTER THAT STOPS HEARTS

I had a client call me the other day, with worry and anxiety in his voice, saying he recieved a letter stating he was being sued for an accident a driver had last year.

He began to tell me he had no idea his driver even had an accident. His driver never told him about an accident and to make matters worse that driver no longer works for him. The plaintiff, who was alledgely hurt enough to be on workers compensation, never called him to file an accident claim. Yet, staring him in the face was a letter from Superior Court informing him he must respond.

INSURANCE AND A SIGH OF RELIEF

I asked for a few details the letter included like date of accident, driver name and vehicle information. I nervously looked up the policy that was in force for the time in question, hoping I was going to be able to tell him his policy would respond. Luckily I was able to do just that. The driver and vehicle in question was covered under his policy on the date of loss. We would file a claim with his carrier and let an expereinced professional claims department handle the dirty work my client is paying premiums for. I felt like I heard the knot in his throat being swallowed along with the worry and anxienty.

WHY WORRY?

For my client, his insurance policy became more than just paperwork that came in the mail and a monthly expense. It was the thing that was going to allow him to drive home at ease again.
